Job description

Why this role
Advise Florida's condominium and homeowner associations at a firm that actually understands the practice area. Community association work demands real judgment - boards need practical counsel, not just legal answers. At BPE, you'll work with sophisticated association clients, partner with seasoned attorneys on complex matters, and build your expertise in a growing area of Florida law. No billable-hour pressure and a culture that respects your time.
What you'll do
Advise condominium and homeowner association boards on Florida statutory and regulatory compliance, including Chapters 718 and 720. Draft, review, and amend governing documents - covenants, bylaws, rules, and amendments. Prepare and review association contracts and related legal documents. Counsel boards on governance, elections, and enforcement. Assist clients with dispute resolution through mediation and arbitration, and guide boards through the practical realities of running their communities.
What we're looking for
You bring 2+ years of legal practice experience, ideally with a background in community association or real estate law. You're a strong writer and researcher with the judgment to give boards practical advice, not just academic answers. You're organized, detail-oriented, and communicate clearly - including with non-lawyer board members who need to understand their options. A JD from an accredited law school and an active Florida Bar membership in good standing are required.
Bonus points for: CAM license familiarity, prior association board counsel experience, or litigation experience in Chapter 718/720 matters.
What we offer
  • $120K-$175K base, commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential
  • Health insurance, retirement plan, and generous PTO
  • CLE fully covered
  • Annual all-expenses-paid firm trip (post-eligibility)
  • A collaborative, multi-office Florida firm with a genuine commitment to work-life balance
  • Growing practice area with real advancement opportunity
Ready to apply?
Send your resume and a brief note about a community association matter you've worked on (or why the practice area interests you) to Jennifer Youngblood, HR Director at jyoungblood@berlinpatten.com. We review applications on a rolling basis and aim to respond within a week.
