Description: About the Role

Are you hands-on, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a dynamic environment? Hess Services, Inc. is seeking a Concrete Plant Operator to join our team. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our operation—responsible for the setup, tear down, operation, and maintenance of our concrete batch plant. You’ll help ensure safe, high-quality production while coordinating daily plant activities like scheduling truck drivers and ordering materials.

What You’ll Do
  • Create and manage new concrete mix batches using computerized plant controls.
     
  • Oversee Ready-Mix drivers, providing delivery and route information.
     
  • Operate and maintain batch plant systems and equipment.
     
  • Track and reorder raw materials, keeping accurate records.
     
  • Operate loaders to fill aggregate bins and maintain tank systems.
     
  • Take customer orders and process associated paperwork.
     
  • Ensure proper upkeep of bins, silos, tanks, conveyor belts, air compressors, and trucks.
     
  • Perform routine safety checks, cleaning, and repairs.
     
  • Conduct tests, including slump and moisture testing, to verify batch quality.
     
  • Lead by example in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
Requirements: What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
     
  • Experience with concrete materials a plus.
     
  • ACI concrete field or strength testing certification (preferred, not required).
     
  • Knowledge of concrete batching technology, safety procedures, and testing methods.
     
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, coworkers, and leadership.
     
  • Ability to perform accurate math calculations and use measurement equipment.
     
  • Skilled in hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
     
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and common office equipment.
     
  • Leadership ability with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
     
  • Commitment to safety and confidentiality.
     
Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs (men) / 30 lbs (women).
     
  • Work is primarily indoors with frequent exposure to outside elements and high noise levels.
     
  • Must comply with PPE requirements.
     
  • Occasional travel may be required.
