JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Fill Plant Operator is to break down cylinder pallets brought in from branches and sort the cylinders by size, color, date, gas, and damage onto pallets. The Fill Plant Operator will also fill cylinders with compressed gases and prepare shipments for the branches.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read Shortage Sheet or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments.
  • Transport cylinders to and from storage or sorting areas, loading docks, or delivery vehicles using forklift.
  • Sort cylinders based on date, valve inspection, arc burns, grease, competitor tanks, size, color, gas, dead ring check, and damage to appropriate pallets (retest, maintenance, or sorted gases) by rolling cylinders.
  • Loosen all cylinder caps for filler and release pressure on specified tanks.
  • Unload pallets of empty cylinders from route trucks as they come in using forklift.
  • Load pallets of full cylinders onto appropriate route trucks based on identifying information.
  • Support fellow members of the Gas Plant team and perform other related duties as required.
  • Prepare branch store orders.
  • Using the Branch Order Form, prepare pallets of cylinders for the stores.
  • Drive forklift to designated areas.
  • Load cylinders by rolling or carrying them to the pallets.
  • Ensure that all cylinder caps are tight.
  • Arrange cylinders into interlocking position and install ratchet straps to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Transport full pallet to staging area using the forklift.
  • Participate in the filling of Carbon Dioxide and cryogenic liquid cylinders.
  • Mark the cylinders with chalk for designated stores.
  • Comply with safety regulations and requirements.
  • Complete and maintain company-required paperwork.
  • Write clearly and legibly on daily documents.
  • Present a professional image.
  • Support efforts to keep facility and grounds in a neat and organized manner.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diplomas or equivalent is required.
  • Forklift license is preferred, but Arc3 will provide forklift training before assignment begins.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand and walk for eight-hour periods.
  • Roll two cylinders weighing up to 55 lbs at a time continuously.
  • Grip cylinder ratchet straps, handles, and caps continuously.
  • Bend at the waist and knees frequently.
  • Use feet to push cylinders into interlocking position and to help move cylinders as they are rolled continuously.
  • Use full body force to tighten ratchet straps frequently.
  • Able to twist cylinder caps continuously.
  • Climb in and out of forklift frequently.
  • Excessive noise levels.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions.
