Job description

The Computer Systems Analyst is responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and maintaining computer systems and software applications. Provides technical support, troubleshoots issues, and ensures the proper functioning of computer hardware and software. Plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization's computer systems.

This position is based in the Charleston, SC area and may require deployment to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, to perform work locally. The United Stated Antarctic Program requires all personnel deploying to Antarctica to pass a physical qualification (PQ), which typically involves a standard medical physical, dental examination, and bloodwork.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.

  • Must hold and maintain a valid Security+ certification.

  • Must obtain an OS certificate within six (6) months.

  • Must be able to perform job duties in extreme, cold, dark, work environments.

  • Required to Physically Qualify (PQ) in accordance with the USAP requirements for deployment to Antarctica.

  • Must pass medical and dental examination prior to deployment; expenses are reimbursable.

  • Broad knowledge of data sources, data flow, systems interactions, advanced computer equipment and software applications, and advanced systems design techniques.

  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of a variety of concepts, practices and procedures related to computer systems and applications.

  • Ability to analyze and develop complex design objectives.

  • Proven ability to perform in an advisory capacity and to make recommendations for resolving issues.

  • Excellent computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts analysis and evaluation of computer systems and software applications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Computer Systems Analyst

High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year of experience with computerized systems, including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of standalone computers, networked computers, printers, and other computer peripherals; as well as software installation and configuration. Providing technical, operational, and training support to users either by telephone or on-site for computer desktop hardware and software packages.

Computer Systems Analyst II

High School diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years of experience with computerized systems, including testing and evaluation, network protocols, LAN administration fundamentals, and UNIX- and Windows-based operating systems.

Computer Systems Analyst III

High school diploma or GED and a minimum of five (5) years of computerized system experience, to include test and evaluation, network protocols, LAN administration fundamentals, and UNIX- and Windows-based operating systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
