Title: System Administrator

Location: Washington, D.C. (Onsite)

Terms: Full-time

Clearance: Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Travel: <10%

Position Description

We have an exciting full time opportunity for a System Administrator to join our growing team! System Administrators are responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of an organization's computer systems. They ensure the smooth operation of mission critical IT infrastructure and provide technical support to end-users. This role requires an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.

Responsibilities:

  • System Configuration and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and software patches. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Security Management: Implement security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates as needed.
  • Helpdesk Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up user accounts, and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect data integrity and minimize downtime. Test backup systems regularly to ensure reliability.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Generate reports on system performance, capacity, and security.
  • Automation and Optimization: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline system administration processes. Implement automation tools and scripts to improve efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to support organizational goals and initiatives. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.

Required:

  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in IT support, system administration or a related role.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • Willingness and ability to flex between 1st and 2nd shift (6am to 2pm Eastern OR 2pm to 10pm Eastern)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Please note physical requirements:

This onsite role requires a mix of help desk, deskside, and VIP support in a secure federal environment. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include sitting for extended help desk coverage; standing and walking for deskside or project-based support; walking between nearby Department of State buildings; occasional stair use; bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching to install, troubleshoot, inventory, move, or remove equipment; lifting and carrying IT equipment up to 30 pounds without assistance; assisting with two-person or team-lift items that may exceed 50 pounds; pushing or pulling carts or dollies; and supporting office moves, equipment deliveries, hardware refreshes, inventory validation, and equipment lifecycle activities.
