Opportunity Overview Handshake is looking for Computer Science PhDs to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional academic or industry research role. You'll draw on your computer science expertise to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand computational concepts, technical reasoning, and problem-solving.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside anything else you have going on. Who This Is For Algorithms, computational complexity, or theoretical computer science Computer systems, distributed computing, or computer networks Programming languages, software engineering, or compilers Computer vision, human-computer interaction, or security What You'll Do You'll use your computer science expertise to create domain‐relevant questions and review AI‐generated responses for accuracy, rigor, and relevance to real‐world computer science research and practice. No prior AI or technical experience is required.

Qualifications A current enrollment in or a completed PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field Deep expertise in at least one area of computer science at the doctoral level Strong written communication skills and attention to detail The ability to work independently and follow written guidelines Work Authorization Must be currently residing in the United States. F‐1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible for projects on Handshake AI. Work with your Designated School Official to determine your eligibility.
