Job description

Department: Library Salary: $12.00 per hour
Description:
The (evening) reference desk student worker assists Library staff at the 4th-floor Reference Desk with daily operations.
Required to work a set PM schedule (scheduling is negotiable)
Duties:
• Monitor computer lab activity
• Explain and enforce computer lab policies and study room rules
• Manage study room reservations
• Check out study room key cards and equipment
• Load paper into six library printers
• Troubleshoot computers, printers, and scanners
• Assist patrons with computer and software questions
• Provide visitors with computer access
• Assist library staff with opening and/or closing the computer lab
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Some lifting of up to 20 lbs. is required
• Experience with computers and troubleshooting
• Reliable, punctual, and organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable learning new tasks and taking initiative
• Positive Attitude
• The ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff
Qualifications:
• Must be enrolled at UHD for the semester applying for six (6) college credit hours or more
• Must qualify for Texas Work Study via Financial Aid
• Must be able to work evenings
