The part-timeInformation Technology Computer Lab Assistant reports to the Computer ServicesCoordinator at the Sugar Grove Campus. Basic functions for this position includeassisting computing customers, maintaining the computing lab environment,answering the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) phone, and assisting ComputerServices Technicians or Specialists when necessary.
Ensure that all equipment in the computing lab is operating properly.
Prepare labs and classrooms for the start of each semester.
Assist customers in the operation of computer hardware andprinting.
Assist customers with logins and passwords.
Assist students with accessing various application software. Thoroughknowledge of all application software is not mandatory.
Answer the Technical Assistance Center phone.
Communicate with TAC on an ongoing basis to ensure customerservice issues are handled appropriately.
Ensurethat the computing labs are neat and organized.
Assist in training other Information Technology (IT) staff.
Provide backup and assistance to other areas of IT includingComputer Services Technicians and Specialists, when needed.
Perform other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
Minimum of one year experience required in either technical support or a customer service position supporting a computer environment.
Basic hardware & software knowledge.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with users of various technical skill levels via e-mail, in person, and on the telephone.
