GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Performs various technical and support laboratory duties under the guidance of a medical technologist competent in the area of testing. Requires decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced and high volume environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods
  • Operates, calibrates, checks, maintains instrumentation and recognizes and communicates with a certified medical technologist if there are any problems with quality controls
  • Performs test order entry accurately and efficiently to ensure proper testing and charges of patient accounts
  • Participates in medical technology learning models or technical development modules to ensure growth and development of the laboratory
  • Provides support such as answering telephones, faxing reports and reporting stat and critical value results
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required
