Job description

The George E. Booth Co. is a family-owned andoperated industrial automation sales company looking to hire their nextfull-time IT Helpdesk Technician.

The George E. Booth Co. is amajor distributor of process instrumentation products and related services tocustomers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.  Founded in1963, George E. Booth Sr. recognized that there would be a natural evolution inthe development of products for the industrial instrumentation processfield. 

In addition to excellent communication skills,written and verbally, the ideal candidate will have ERP software knowledge strong attention to detail,and the ability to interface with individuals at all levels within theorganization. The IT Helpdesk Technician will beresponsible for assisting the IT department and company users with day-to-daytechnical support on both hardware and software. This is an in person position located in Indianapolis, IN.  All candidates mustbe legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:                                                       

1.       Oversee dailyperformance of computer systems.

2.       May provideassistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, includingprinting, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating system.

3.       Set upequipment for employees' use, performing or ensuring proper installation ofcables, operating systems, and appropriate software.

4.       Attaintechnical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics toinvestigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance andsupport.

5.       Answer userinquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolveproblems.

6.       Install andperform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, followingdesign or installation specifications.

7.       Confer withstaff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems ormodifications.

8.       Entercommands and observe systems functioning to verify correct operations anddetect errors.

9.       Maintainrecords of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actionstaken or installation activities.

10.    Developtraining materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of hardwareor software.

11.    All otherduties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements:

        Bachelor's Degree in IT or a technically relatedfield is a plus.

        At least two years' related experience in companyinformation technology

        Excellent verbal and written communication skillswith the ability to translate complex concepts into easily understood language.

        Ability to use software suites, presentationsoftware, spreadsheets, and collaboration tools.

        Attention to details, organizational aptitude, andsuperior interaction skills necessary.
