Job description

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a CAD Specialist to support our Contractor Services Division in Watertown, Connecticut* that specializes in Construction Engineering. We practice in the niche field of Temporary Works Design. Our Specialty is developing working drawings and calculations tailored to the preferred means and methods of contractors on heavy civil highway, bridge, buildings, railroads, power generation, utility and marine projects. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who possesses the ability to multi-task, work with a team of diverse engineers, adhere to project deadlines, and demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical drawings from marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction within a project team
  • Organize and manage project data to GZA company standards and best practices.
  • Complete technical execution of projects under the supervision of project managers, staff engineers, and other project staff.
  • GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Design or Drafting, Technical/Vocational certification, or equivalent training.
  • 2+ years' professional experience with AutoCAD 3D and structural drafting.
  • Construction experience is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail; problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Professional attitude, self-motivation, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow direction, work both independently and in teams.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends as warranted by project demands.
  • Hybrid work environment is available for qualified candidates.
  • Solid understanding of geometry.
  • Candidates are expected to have a portfolio of work product for review.
The hourly rate for this position may range between $30.00 and $40.00. The salary and total compensation will depend on many factors, including location, candidate experience, education, professional licensure, and other qualifications.
