RVT certificate or similar skills are required. Management experience is preferred.
Duties include overseeing the animals' medical care, housing, and diets, supervising other animal-care employees and volunteers, and taking animals to the vet clinic for treatment as needed.
Knowledge of bird, mammal, and reptile anatomy and physiology is required. Must be able to handle all species commonly admitted, including hummingbirds, eagles, bats, coyotes, and everything in between. Training in animal handling will be provided.
The SWCC does not have a veterinarian on staff, but does have a herd health veterinarian who provides services when needed and is available for consultation.
We have a two-acre compound where most of the animals are housed and cared for.
