Overview
Lucas Industries, a PCM INNOVATON COMPANY, is a growing manufacturing enterprise that specializes in precision aerospace tooling. We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Composite Materials Supervisor.

The Composite Materials Supervisor is responsible for the development, design, administration and documentation functions of composite tool products. This individual is also responsible for ensuring the design, engineering and general operation of this department complies with company quality system procedures as related to composite tools.

This position requires a self-motivated person who maintains an exceptional working relationship with colleagues, sales, manufacturing and customers. The Composite Materials Supervisor will report directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical project management and daily supervision of an expanding composites department.
  • Identify and ensure adequate and appropriate resources are assigned to product/projects to ensure the design is controlled, the company's goals for the successful completion of the product/project are achieved and the customer's needs are met.
  • Report on performance and maintain a budget for the effective operation of the composite department.
  • Supervise layups, custom vacuum bagging, oven, autoclave processing and operation of hydraulic presses and associated equipment.
  • Identify customer needs and develop effective solutions while working in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • Position requires working knowledge of many typical resin/matrix types with particular emphasis on materials for aircraft related tooling and parts.
  • Knowledge of press operation, autoclave and oven thermal process using vacuum bag methods is a must.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other business-related programs.
  • Familiarity will Catia or Surfcam is a plus.
  • Complete attention to detail for accurate and timely completion of jobs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced deadline orientated environment.
  • Direct supervisory or technical management experience is a major plus.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS in Engineering Materials Science or ME with Advanced Materials focus.
  • 5+ years of industrial experience with direct composites development, production and/or design background
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints in 2D and 3D
  • Proficient mathematical skills with the ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances. (GD&T)
