Composite Materials Supervisor

What You'll Do

Leadership & Project Management

  • Provide technical leadership, project management, and daily supervision of an expanding composites department.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and allocate appropriate resources to ensure projects are completed successfully, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Monitor department performance and manage budgets to support operational goals and company growth.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining quality, efficiency, and profitability.

Composite Manufacturing Operations

  • Supervise composite layups, custom vacuum bagging, autoclave and oven curing processes, hydraulic press operations, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with company quality systems and aerospace industry standards.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance quality, productivity, safety, and overall department performance.

Customer & Technical Support

  • Collaborate with customers, engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Identify customer needs and translate requirements into practical and effective manufacturing outcomes.
  • Ensure all design, engineering, administration, and documentation functions related to composite tooling are completed accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications

Technical Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of resin and matrix systems, particularly materials used in aircraft tooling and composite parts.
  • Extensive experience with vacuum bag processing, autoclaves, ovens, hydraulic presses, and thermal cure processes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business-related software.
  • Familiarity with CATIA and/or Surfcam is considered an asset.
  • Proficient mathematical skills with the ability to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Leadership & Professional Skills

  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership, or technical management experience is strongly preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with an Advanced Materials focus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in composite development, production, tooling, or design.
  • Demonstrated experience working with advanced composite manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.
