Job description

Who we are:
Fidelity Life is a leading provider of financial security for middle market consumers. With a history of innovation, the company is redefining the life insurance industry with patented products and processes. Fidelity Life pioneered the use of predictive analytics to streamline the new business process and revolutionize the speed that policies can be issued. Established in 1896, Fidelity Life enjoys a long track-record of success and continues to build its reputation of sound fiscal management and customer-focused innovation.
In concert with Fidelity Life, eFinancial is an online and call-center-based insurance agency with a proven direct-to-consumer life insurance model. Using a proprietary and patented sales technology platform, eFinancial's licensed agents help thousands of consumers each day with their unique life insurance needs - often with just a single phone call. To complement this channel, the company recently expanded to offer an entirely digital purchase experience.
Fidelity Life and eFinancial are part of iA Financial Group and are revolutionizing the life insurance industry to make protection more accessible and affordable for everyday Americans. With integrated marketing, product manufacturing, and controlled distribution, the enterprise is uniquely positioned to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Continuously monitor competitor, product, underwriting, pricing, distribution, technology, and market signals to identify meaningful shifts, risks, and opportunities.
  • Translate raw intelligence into concise executive-ready outputs using the Insight → Implication → Action framework.
  • Build and maintain the core CI toolkit over time, beginning with a market watch summary, competitor moves log, source library, and focused competitor profiles, then expanding into scorecards, battlecards, dashboards, and quarterly executive reviews as the function matures.
  • Prioritize CI work based on decision impact, repeatability, and feasibility, ensuring the function produces fewer, sharper outputs rather than broad reporting that cannot be sustained.
  • Conduct ad hoc deep dives on competitor moves, new entrants, partner opportunities, pricing changes, underwriting shifts, and distribution dynamics.
  • Analyze where the company is winning or losing in the market and help identify the underlying drivers behind performance gaps.
  • Partner with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to validate findings and convert insights into action.
  • Support quarterly executive competitive reviews, monthly market summaries, and rapid-response briefs for time-sensitive competitive developments.
  • Build and maintain the SharePoint-based CI intelligence hub, including competitor profiles, source library, market watch archive, decision briefs, and competitor moves log.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and workflow automation to accelerate signal gathering, summarize recurring sources, classify competitive moves, and improve consistency of outputs while maintaining human judgment and source validation.
Qualifications:
  • 5-8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy, product strategy, management consulting, corporate development, analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills, including benchmarking, gap analysis, market mapping, trend analysis, and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguity, structure new problem spaces, and convert incomplete information into clear conclusions, practical implications, and recommended actions for senior decision-makers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create concise, executive-ready briefs, presentations, and decision support materials.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders and influencing action without direct authority.
  • High intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgment about what matters most.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools; experience with BI tools, dashboards, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, AI-enabled research, or workflow automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with life insurance, financial services, distribution partnerships, underwriting, or regulated markets is strongly preferred; candidates with transferable experience in strategy, market intelligence, or competitive analysis in adjacent industries will also be considered.
Skills:
  • Competitive and market intelligence: ability to monitor competitors, market signals, product moves, underwriting shifts, distribution changes, technology developments, and emerging trends.
  • Strategic analysis and synthesis: ability to convert fragmented information into clear insights, implications, and recommended actions.
  • Executive communication: ability to produce concise, decision-ready briefs, summaries, presentations, and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Structured problem solving: ability to define ambiguous problems, develop analytical frameworks, and prioritize the questions that matter most.
  • Research and source validation: ability to gather, assess, organize, and validate information from public, industry, internal, and partner sources.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis: ability to perform benchmarking, gap analysis, market mapping, trend analysis, and basic business or financial analysis.
  • Knowledge management and content organization: ability to build and maintain a structured intelligence repository, source library, competitor profiles, moves log, and market watch archive.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: ability to partner with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, Sales, and executive stakeholders to validate findings and drive action.
  • AI-enabled workflow leverage: ability to use Copilot, automation, and related tools to accelerate signal gathering, summarization, classification, and repeatable reporting while maintaining human judgment.
  • Business judgment and prioritization: ability to focus on the highest-impact questions, avoid over-reporting, and produce outputs that can be sustained by a lean team.
  • Insurance and financial services domain fluency: understanding of life insurance, underwriting, distribution partnerships, digital acquisition, or regulated financial services markets.
  • Tools and presentation skills: proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, research tools, and ideally BI or dashboard tools.
