Job description


Coordinate, manage and monitor activities of the district's Facilities functions. Oversee hired contractors to perform construction, alterations, maintenance and major day-to-day repairs to buildings, infrastructure and facilities for a multi-site organization. Plan and initiate projects to improve or effectively maintain facilities in a manner consistent with VDOT goals and available funding. Oversee district security operations.
How you will contribute:
  • Administrative: Maintain and apply knowledge of departmental programs, policies and applicable state and federal statutes. Monitor financial systems, EMS, FAACS and FICAS. Coordinate and administer professional consulting services agreements.
  • Manage FAACS Inventory: Related to non-roadway, non-ROW real estate, structures, and infrastructure VDOT owns.
  • Operations and Planning: Manages and coordinates Facilities staff members, contractors, utility companies, and consultants in activities related to the construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of buildings and facilities. Oversees program facilities maintenance in regard to safety, environmental and health requirements. Assumes management responsibility for facilities and construction services area programs and operations including facilities planning, facilities maintenance and operation, renewal and construction projects for assigned locations. Oversees facility projects in conjunction with the Central Office, from pre-design site assessment through project plans and specifications, bid documents, contract awards and contract administration, project oversight, change order management and contract completion. Monitor cost, safety, and quality of projects.
  • Resolution of Customer Complaints: Resolve customer complaints and problems.
  • Security, Emergency and Risk Management: Oversee security activities.
