Job description

Position Overview

The Mgr, Employee Relations, oversees complex employee relations matters and provides direct leadership to assigned ER Specialists. In addition to managing a caseload, the Manager ensures consistency in case handling, supports operational priorities, and contributes to process improvements and team engagement. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources.

Key Job Responsibilities

People Leadership

• Provide direct leadership and performance coaching to assigned ER Specialists through regular one-on-ones and ongoing feedback.

• Monitor individual accountability, quality of case work, and documentation standards, ensuring consistency and continuous improvement.

• Mentor ER Specialists in building ER expertise, including policy interpretation, documentation, and investigative strategy.

• Lead ER team meetings in partnership with the HR Director and contribute to knowledge-sharing and alignment across the function.

• Recommend development goals and identify training or coaching opportunities for team members.

Performance Management

• Partner with managers to address workplace behavior, performance issues, and policy violations, providing advanced guidance and support.

• Review and approve corrective action documentation to ensure alignment with the company's progressive discipline process.

• Educate managers on legal compliance, effective coaching practices, and consistent application of company policies.

Internal Investigations

• Lead internal investigations into policy violations, harassment allegations, and other workplace concerns, ensuring impartiality, objectivity, and thorough fact-finding.

• Prepare detailed investigation reports with clear findings and recommendations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

• Provide guidance and support to ER Specialists on investigative approach, risk assessment, and handling sensitive cases.

Case Management and Reporting

• Manage a caseload of complex employee relations cases, including performance, policy violations, and sensitive workplace concerns.

• Ensure timely, thorough, and accurate documentation in the case management system, upholding data integrity and legal defensibility.

• Leverage ER data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement, and share insights with HR leadership.

• Act as a subject matter expert for the case management system and support assigned ER Specialists in effective system use.

Process Improvement

• Lead initiatives to improve ER processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and enhance overall team effectiveness.

• Collaborate with the HR Director to standardize workflows and reinforce consistent ER practices across the team.

• Contribute to cross-functional HR projects and help shape organizational strategies that improve workplace culture and reduce risk.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

• 5+ years of experience in Employee Relations or related HR roles, with expertise in handling complex cases, internal investigations, and performance management.

• Strong understanding of employment laws and regulatory compliance.

• Advanced skills in case management systems, data analysis, and reporting.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to mentor and train effectively.

Work Environment

Hotel

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based on an individual hotel or a representation of hotels in that city or area.

Warehouse

Work is performed at event venues as well as in a warehouse environment. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in a warehouse environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area. When in the Warehouse, work will be completed in an environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members may use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Office

Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in an office environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.

Salary Pay Range: $77,554.00 - $120,000.00

The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. In addition, some positions may be eligible for other compensation such as potential overtime, bonuses or incentives.
