The Big Picture
Mount Laurel Church is a welcoming Christian congregation in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania seeking a full-time Senior Pastor who feels called to lead, teach, shepherd, and help the church grow into its next season of ministry. The congregation values both the traditions that have shaped the church and the need to reach new people, younger families, and future generations - they are looking for a pastor who can honor their history while helping them move confidently into the future. More than filling a position, Mount Laurel Church is seeking someone who feels called to build a life and ministry with them, and they welcome conversations with experienced pastors as well as gifted individuals entering a new season of ministry.
Requirements

Help the congregation develop and pursue a clear vision for the future, identifying opportunities for new ministries and greater community impact

Develop creative approaches to welcoming new people, with ministries meaningful to children, youth, young adults, families, older adults, and people who may not currently have a church home
Build relationships with community organizations, churches, schools, and local leaders - encouraging a culture of invitation, hospitality, service, and evangelism
Maintain regular office and ministry hours, participate in church council and leadership meetings, help plan the annual ministry calendar, and pursue continuing education and professional development
Qualifications
An ordained, licensed, commissioned, or otherwise appropriately credentialed Christian minister - or interested in beginning the path toward pastoral ministry through the church's available program/mentorship
A strong personal Christian faith and commitment to following Jesus Christ
Strong knowledge of Scripture and a desire to continually deepen that knowledge - valuing serious biblical study including historical and cultural context (knowledge of biblical Greek and/or Hebrew is welcomed but not required)
An engaging and effective preacher and teacher
Warmth, compassion, integrity, humility, and emotional maturity, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Comfortable ministering to people from different generations, backgrounds, and life experiences
Willing to become involved in the broader community
A genuine desire to help a congregation grow spiritually, relationally, and numerically
