Job description

Manager, Product Manager - Hotel Pricing, Capital One Travel
Manager, Product Management (PXDP50)
The Hotel Pricing team is the engine room of our hotel business, responsible for balancing price competitiveness with healthy margins. This is a high-stakes domain where your decisions directly impact the company's bottom line and overall P&L. You will lead a sophisticated product function focused on two core pillars: gathering and measuring global competitor data, and architecting the logic that determines how we price our inventory.
The Role
As the Manager of Pricing, you will move beyond simple optimization to help build the "dials" and levers that drive our pricing strategy. This is a heavily strategic, back-end focused role where you will dive into the "guts" of our systems to implement complex logic. You will be the primary driver of product strategy, using data as your compass to determine how we should buy and price inventory in a volatile market.
Who You Are
  • Commercially Minded: You have a background in commercial or financial products and a deep understanding of P&L impact. You know how to balance customer value with business profitability.
  • Data-Literate & Analytical: You are highly data-literate and possess the SQL skills to pull and analyze your own data. You view Data Science as an amplifier of your strategy, not a crutch for your decision-making.
  • Technically Grounded: While this isn't a "Technical PM" role, you sit on the technical side of the product spectrum. You enjoy working on back-end logic and complex system architectures.
  • Strategic Architect: You aren't just looking to optimize a mature product area; you want to figure out which levers the business needs to pull and how to build them from the ground up.

Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to lead one of the most established and measurable product functions in the company. You will work alongside a talented engineering pod to solve high-scale problems where the results of your work are visible in the company's financial performance every single day. If you love the intersection of data, strategy, and deep back-end systems, this is your home.
Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.
Capital One Product Framework
In this role, you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product management:
  • Human Centered - Obsesses about internal and external customer needs to reimagine and innovate product solutions
  • Business Focused - Delivers game-changing outcomes by focusing on leverage and execution excellence
  • Technology Driven - Leverages technology to deliver innovative and resilient solutions that enable both near term and long term value
  • Integrated Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves complex problems to deliver outcomes while mitigating product risks
  • Transformational Leadership - Leads cross functional teams to solve customer problems and drive organizational alignment

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience working in Product Management
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
    • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
    • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products
