Job description

  • Develop and execute strategic public-relations plans aligned to enterprise strategy and business leader priorities.
  • Oversee media relations for corporate functions including Tech and DAIO, Finance, HIMCO, Enterprise Risk Management, Sustainability and Community Relations; support quarterly earnings, financial results, investor-related news, and major business updates.
  • Develop messaging and materials, manage outreach, coordinate with senior leaders, prepare executive communications and provide media training and coaching as needed.
  • Create media-relations strategy for Community Relations. Partner with head of Community Relations and other stakeholders to drive impact through earned media and align messaging with enterprise priorities and brand narrative.
  • Develop news releases and talking points; manage executive interviews in support of Community Relations initiatives.
  • Manage media relations for significant issues including litigation, legislation, regulatory changes, real estate, jobs, and catastrophes.
  • Work with journalists and serve as a company spokesperson.
  • Track and analyze media coverage, provide insights to leadership, and contribute to regular reporting.
  • Partner across Enterprise Communications to ensure alignment and integration across channels.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, journalism, public relations, or a related field, within a large public company or Fortune 500 environment.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic communications counsel to senior executives and C-suite leaders.
  • Experience supporting corporate functions preferred.
  • Strong media-relations experience, including established media contacts and experience working with local, national and trade reporters on complex matters.
  • Ability to translate complex business topics, objectives and issues into clear communications strategy, messaging, and execution plans.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple strategic communications initiatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining quality and sound judgment.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong interest in topics relevant to publicly traded companies, including corporate strategy, financial performance, business trends, organizational culture, and business-related public policy; financial-services experience a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for varied audiences.
  • Experience using GenAI tools to improve workflow efficiency and understand how earned and owned media may inform AI-generated content about the company and industry.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Four-year degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
