JOB OVERVIEW
The Housing Navigation Center Shelter is a physical location where those experiencing homelessness receive support and access to day and overnight shelter.
This position oversees two Shelter Program Assistant positions. Additionally, the Lead Shelter Program Assistant is responsible for brokering community housing solution resources with guests, conducting assessments, general administrative tasks, and maintaining cleanliness of the Center. The position maintains professional relationships and clear communication with guests receiving services and community agencies providing services. The position requires regular direct services and careful documentation in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Supervision
โ€ข Oversee day shelter operations
โ€ข Supervise, support, and lead the Shelter Program Assistant Team
โ€ข Provide backup coverage as needed
Position Specific
โ€ข Work with people experiencing homelessness during shelter hours to provide a welcoming shelter environment, ensuring guest and staff safety, and providing guests with appropriate resources
โ€ข Work closely with other agencies to coordinate care for guests
โ€ข Ensure daily services are entered into HMIS
โ€ข Maintain documentation in compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements, including HMIS data entry
โ€ข Complete intakes and assessments
โ€ข Utilize trauma-informed de-escalation techniques to address guest concerns and mitigate conflict
โ€ข Perform routine administrative tasks
โ€ข Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professionalism of the Shelter
โ€ข Maintain good working relationships with neighboring businesses
โ€ข Perform inventory of shelter supplies and ordering as necessary
โ€ข Pick up food for shelter guests at Food Bank as needed
โ€ข Assist with regular operations as needed, including occasional evening hours to assist guests at the overnight shelter, and potential weekend hours in the event of expanded day shelter coverage due to extreme weather

โ€ข Supervisory experience preferred
POSITION STATUS
โ€ข Full-time (40 hours) non-exempt
โ€ข Work hours are 10am-6:30pm M-Th (with 1/2-hour unpaid lunch break); 10am-6pm Fridays
โ€ข Pay Range (H4) 18.21-20.50 per hour
o Plus hourly bilingual differential, if applicable
โ€ข Supervisory duties: 2-to-4 direct reports
โ€ข Reports to: Director of the Housing Navigation Center
โ€ข Eligible for remote work: No
