Are you passionate about serving the community and helping families access essential resources? Grocery Services is looking for Community Wellness Ambassadors to join our growing Houston team!

In this field-based role, you’ll work closely with our Community Engagement Manager to connect directly with families, WIC clinics, and community organizations to help increase awareness of WIC benefits and introduce families to the services and support available through our stores across Texas. You’ll represent Grocery Services at community events, health fairs, and local outreach opportunities while building meaningful relationships within the communities we serve.

This role partners closely with both Community Engagement and Human Resources leadership to support community outreach and growth initiatives across the business.

Starting pay is $15/hour with bonus, overtime, and mileage reimbursement opportunities available.

Job Summary
The Community Wellness Ambassador serves as a field-based representative responsible for driving WIC participation and increasing customer traffic to store locations through direct community engagement. This role supports the organization’s growth strategy by building relationships within local communities, educating individuals on WIC benefits, and promoting the company’s grocery service model.

The Community Wellness Ambassador plays a critical role in connecting with WIC clinics, community organizations, and families, while gathering real-time market insights to inform business decisions and improve customer acquisition and retention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily community outreach in assigned territories, including WIC clinics, community organizations, schools, and local events.
  • Engage directly with individuals and families to educate them on WIC benefits and how to access and utilize them effectively.
  • Promote the company’s store offerings, product availability, and customer experience to drive first-time store visits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with WIC clinic staff, community leaders, and local partners, including food banks and nonprofit organizations.
  • Support grassroots marketing initiatives such as flyer distribution, pop-up events, health fairs, and small group engagement sessions.
  • Host or participate in community-based events, including product demonstrations and informational sessions, to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Encourage WIC clinic applications and guide individuals through next steps to access benefits.
  • Drive customer conversion by following up with community contacts and encouraging store visits.
  • Gather and report qualitative feedback from the community, including customer preferences, barriers to WIC participation, and competitor insights.
  • Track and report weekly activity, including locations visited, number of individuals engaged, new contacts established, and key learnings.
  • Collaborate with store teams to ensure alignment between outreach efforts and in-store customer experience.
  • Maintain consistent presence in assigned territories to build trust and brand recognition within the community.
  • Ensure all outreach and engagement activities are conducted in a professional, respectful, and compliant manner.
  • Identify opportunities to improve outreach strategies, messaging, and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience in community outreach, customer engagement, sales, retail, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in customer-facing roles requiring direct interaction with diverse populations.
  • Prior exposure to community-based work, nonprofit organizations, public health programs, or grassroots outreach is a plus.
  • Experience in environments that require meeting activity or performance targets (e.g., sales, canvassing, promotions) preferred.
