Job description

Position Summary
The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as the vital link between ASARCO and our neighboring communities. In this role, you will champion all community outreach activities for our Ray and Hayden mine operations. You will be responsible for creating, cultivating, and maintaining strategic alliances with residents, schools, local community government authorities, businesses, associations and industry partners to ensure a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement innovative new community outreach programs while ensuring the seamless continuity and growth of existing initiatives.
  • Operational Oversight: Coordinate and execute all localized community outreach programs and specialized events at the Ray and Hayden sites.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders such as Human Resources, Operations and Land departments to support internal communications, corporate reporting, and employee engagement events.
  • Strategic Alliance Building: Actively participate in community events, industry forums, and government functions to build and fortify strategic partnerships.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage "Social License to Operate" initiatives, maintaining transparent and proactive engagement with community partners, government entities, and NGOs.
  • Project & Permitting Support: Assist with environmental initiatives and public-facing permitting processes.
  • Team Support: Provide collaborative support to the broader Community Outreach team and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field (an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered).
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience organizing special events and community campaigns. Experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector is highly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of building positive, professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
    • Proficiency in graphic design principles is preferred
    • Comfortable with social media management, as well as basic photo and video editing software.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel regularly to various mine sites and local community events.
