Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment planning for children and adolescents.
  • Establish and maintain clinical practice standards based on current evidence and accepted psychiatric guidelines.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise psychiatric providers, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, as applicable.
  • Serve as a clinical consultant for complex patient cases.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.

Medical Oversight
  • Ensure medical services comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee prescribing practices and medication safety initiatives.
  • Monitor quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
  • Review and address adverse events, medication incidents, and patient safety concerns.
  • Support infection prevention and patient safety initiatives as applicable.

Quality Improvement & Compliance
  • Lead medical quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in peer review and credentialing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • CMS Conditions of Participation (if applicable)
    • State behavioral health regulations
    • Joint Commission standards (if accredited)
    • HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
    • DEA regulations
    • State prescribing requirements
  • Participate in utilization review and performance improvement committees.
  • Assist with accreditation surveys and regulatory inspections.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with executive leadership regarding strategic planning and program development.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of psychiatric providers.
  • Review and approve clinical policies and medical protocols.
  • Participate in budget planning related to medical services.
  • Support community outreach and physician relations.

Staff Education
  • Provide ongoing education to clinical staff regarding psychiatric treatment, medication management, and best practices.
  • Promote trauma-informed and evidence-based care.
  • Participate in continuing education activities.

Qualifications
Education
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)

Licensure

  • Current DEA registration
  • Current Controlled Substance Registration (if required by state)
