What is a community moderator?

Community moderators are individuals responsible for overseeing online forums, social media groups, or other digital communities to ensure that conversations remain respectful, safe, and compliant with the platform's guidelines. They monitor content, manage disputes, remove inappropriate posts, and often serve as a liaison between the community and platform administrators. Moderators play a key role in fostering a positive environment and encouraging productive engagement among members.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a community moderator?

To thrive as a Community Moderator, you need strong communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and a good understanding of community guidelines, often supported by prior experience in online forums or social media management. Familiarity with moderation tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms is typically required. Patience, impartiality, and problem-solving skills help moderators effectively manage discussions and foster a positive environment. These competencies are crucial for maintaining safe, engaging, and respectful online communities.

How do community moderators typically handle conflicts or disputes between members in online communities?

Community Moderators are responsible for maintaining a positive and respectful environment. When conflicts arise, moderators generally follow established guidelines, mediate discussions, and enforce community rules impartially. They often use de-escalation techniques, communicate privately with involved parties, and may issue warnings or temporary bans if necessary. Collaborating with other moderators is common to ensure consistency and fairness in decision-making.

What is the difference between Community Moderator vs Content Moderator?

How do I become a community moderator?

To become a community moderator, candidates typically need strong communication skills, a good understanding of the community's rules, and experience in online moderation or related roles. Many positions require familiarity with moderation tools and the ability to handle conflicts professionally, often gained through volunteering or previous moderation experience.

How much do community moderators make?

Community moderators typically earn between $10 and $20 per hour, with pay varying based on the platform, experience, and whether they are volunteers or paid employees. Join us in redefining what it means to live in style and comfort - the future of apartment management starts here!

As a Leasing Consultant you will be the driving force in helping residents find the best place to call home. Your creative and thoughtful tours will be customized to individual tastes, from recommending the perfect floorplan to outlining the best new neighborhood restaurants. You know what makes people tick, and follow through on every lead to ensure that our prospective residents know you care. With weekends being the most high-traffic time for future residents to explore their home options, Saturday availability is required.

  • Incredible customer service skills. You have a knack for creating a sense of community and the drive to go the extra mile to create a spectacular experience for new residents. Your success and purpose are driven by the relationships that you build.

  • Sales and marketing chops. Your personalized connections and recommendations drive our leasing performance, and your ability to create excitement through creative campaigns, continuous outreach, and social media fuel community enthusiasm for Vivmark.

  • Follow-through. By understanding what's important to our prospective residents, you continuously reach out with tailored updates - from the ideal floorplan they've been eyeing, to the newest hot-spot openings, to the best food truck in the neighborhood - you help to paint a picture of what it's like to call your community home.

  • A genuine desire to help both residents and colleagues in Creating a Better Way to Live.

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required

  • 1-2 years of experience in a leasing or customer service role, preferably in the real estate or property management industry

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in using property management software and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of fair housing laws and regulations

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

How Vivmark Supports You:

We know that our teams are the beating heart of our success and we're committed to showing our appreciation.

We offer:
