What is a social media influencer?

Social media influencers are individuals who have built a significant following on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Twitter, and can sway the opinions or purchasing decisions of their audience through their content. They create and share engaging posts, videos, or stories, often around specific themes such as fashion, travel, fitness, or technology. Brands frequently partner with influencers to promote products or services because of their ability to reach and connect authentically with niche audiences. Influencers typically earn income through sponsored content, brand collaborations, affiliate marketing, and sometimes their own products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a social media influencer?

To thrive as a Social Media Influencer, you need strong content creation, branding, and audience engagement skills, often supported by expertise in photography, video production, and analytics. Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media analytics dashboards is essential. Creativity, authenticity, adaptability, and excellent communication skills help build trust and foster a dedicated following. These abilities are crucial for growing your brand, maintaining audience engagement, and collaborating effectively with brands and followers.

What are some common challenges social media influencers face when managing multiple brand partnerships simultaneously?

Social Media Influencers often juggle multiple brand partnerships, which can lead to challenges such as scheduling conflicts, ensuring that sponsored content aligns with their authentic voice, and managing exclusivity clauses. It's important to maintain transparency and clear communication with each brand to avoid overlapping campaigns or conflicting messages. Successful influencers typically use content calendars, set clear boundaries, and negotiate contract terms carefully to balance their workload and preserve their personal brand integrity.

This person will help manage PaintLabโ€™s social calendar, schedule and publish content, engage with our community, monitor trends, coordinate creator partnerships, and keep campaigns organized from initial outreach through final reporting.

You should be an excellent communicator with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of PaintLabโ€™s social media strategy across TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms.
  • Help develop and maintain the monthly social media calendar.
  • Schedule and publish approved content accurately and on time.
  • Write engaging, on-brand captions and social copy.
  • Monitor comments, direct messages, tags, mentions, and customer conversations.
  • Engage thoughtfully with PaintLabโ€™s community and relevant creators, brands, and cultural conversations.
  • Research social trends, viral sounds, emerging formats, competitor activity, and content opportunities.
  • Assist with creating, filming, and editing short-form social content.
  • Repurpose existing brand and creator content across appropriate social channels.
  • Organize social assets, captions, links, approvals, product information, and posting schedules.
  • Support content shoots, product launches, retail moments, events, and brand activations.
  • Track social media performance, including reach, views, engagement, follower growth, clicks, and conversions.
  • Prepare regular performance reports identifying key results, learnings, and opportunities.
  • Ensure all content follows PaintLabโ€™s brand guidelines, approved claims, promotional terms, and platform requirements.

Influencer Side:

  • Research and identify beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and nail creators who align with PaintLabโ€™s aesthetic, audience, and business goals.
  • Manage creator outreach, communications, follow-ups, and ongoing relationship-building.
  • Coordinate gifting, affiliate, organic, and paid influencer partnerships.
  • Create and distribute campaign briefs, product information, content requirements, messaging guidelines, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate creator product selections, shipping addresses, gifting lists, and shipment tracking.
  • Manage campaign timelines and ensure content is submitted and published on schedule.
  • Review creator content for brand alignment, accuracy, required disclosures, and campaign requirements.
  • Communicate content feedback and revision requests clearly and professionally.
  • Organize creator contracts, rates, deliverables, usage rights, approvals, invoices, and payment details.
  • Help negotiate deliverables, timelines, rates, exclusivity, and usage rights within approved budgets.
  • Maintain an accurate creator database and campaign trackers.
  • Monitor creator content and identify high-performing assets for organic social and paid advertising.
  • Track campaign performance, including reach, views, engagement, clicks, conversions, affiliate sales, and content quality.
  • Identify creators who should be renewed, moved into paid partnerships, or considered for long-term ambassador relationships.
  • Support creator mailers, product launches, retail initiatives, events, and brand activations.
  • Collaborate with PaintLabโ€™s creative, marketing, e-commerce, sales, and operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in social media, influencer marketing, content creation, talent management, public relations, affiliate marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or supporting brand social media accounts.
  • Experience communicating directly with creators, talent managers, or agencies.
  • Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and emerging social platforms.
  • A genuine interest in beauty, nails, fashion, social media, and creator culture.
  • Strong creative instincts and an understanding of what makes short-form content engaging.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns, relationships, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving skills, and willingness to take initiative.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Must be available to work on-site in Culver City, California.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a beauty, fashion, lifestyle, or consumer brand.
  • Experience filming and editing short-form social content.
  • Familiarity with influencer platforms, affiliate programs, social scheduling tools, and creator databases.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating creator rates, contracts, deliverables, exclusivity, and usage rights.
  • Understanding of FTC disclosure requirements and influencer marketing best practices.
  • Experience using Google Workspace and project-management platforms.
