Build Community That Drives Impact

Jewish Family & Career Services of Atlanta (JF&CS) is seeking a relationship-driven, community-focused Manager of Volunteer & Community Engagement to lead and grow how individuals, families, corporations, and partners connect to our mission through meaningful service.

With a 125-year history of supporting individuals and families of all faiths, JF&CS is a trusted community resource. This role plays a critical part in expanding our reach, deepening partnerships, and ensuring every volunteer experience is impactful, welcoming, and rooted in purpose.

The north star for this role is simple: build community connections that translate into meaningful engagement, service, and long-term impact.

The Role at a Glance

  • Reports to Chief Advancement Officer
  • Leads agency-wide volunteer strategy and engagement efforts
  • Oversees Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
  • Key partner to Development, Marketing, and Program teams
  • Highly relational, community-facing role with a blend of strategy and execution

This is not a behind-the-scenes coordination role. Some days you'll be building partnerships, hosting volunteer groups, or representing JF&CS in the community. Other days you'll be planning programs, analyzing engagement data, or strengthening internal systems that support volunteer success.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Volunteer Strategy & Engagement

  • Lead and evolve a comprehensive, agency-wide volunteer strategy aligned with JF&CS priorities
  • Design inclusive, engaging volunteer experiences that drive long-term commitment
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement systems for volunteers
  • Supervise and support the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
  • Partner with program teams to align volunteer opportunities with real needs
  • Enhance and manage volunteer systems (Golden), using data to improve outcomes
  • Develop communications, storytelling, and engagement campaigns with Marketing
  • Lead year-round volunteer appreciation and recognition efforts

Corporate & Community Partnerships

  • Build and grow relationships with corporate, faith-based, and community partners
  • Design and lead group volunteer experiences that connect community interest with agency impact
  • Manage all aspects of corporate service projects from outreach through execution
  • Partner with Development to create a volunteer-to-donor pipeline
  • Support sponsorships, stewardship, and broader philanthropic engagement
  • Track and report on engagement, partnerships, and contributions across systems

Family & Leadership Engagement Programs

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Family Volunteer Program and related initiatives
  • Guide quarterly family service projects that are accessible and mission-driven
  • Partner with volunteer committees to evaluate and grow engagement efforts
  • Support signature initiatives such as Family Mitzvah Day
  • Lead recruitment and engagement for the Kay Leadership Program
  • Develop meaningful ways to engage alumni through service, networking, and learning opportunities

Requirements

You are:

  • Relationship-driven and energized by connecting people to purpose
  • Strategic but also hands-on, able to move seamlessly from planning to execution
  • Organized and accountable, with strong follow-through
  • A natural collaborator who works well across teams and with external partners
  • Comfortable representing JF&CS in the community
  • Deeply aligned with the JF&CS mission and impact

You have:

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically while executing day-to-day operations
  • Comfort working with data and systems to track engagement and outcomes

You bring:

  • 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit work, volunteer management, community engagement, fundraising, or related field
  • Experience building partnerships and leading programs or initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's a plus)
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends

Why JF&CS?

At JF&CS, community engagement is more than coordination; it's connection, belonging, and impact. You'll play a key role in shaping how people experience our mission, while building relationships across Atlanta that strengthen both our programs and our future.

What We Offer:

  • Up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) annually, prorated in the first year
  • Paid holidays
  • Comprehensive Health, Vision, and Dental insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Paid parental leave

Candidates selected for employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background screening and drug screening. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results for both. In addition, tuberculosis (TB) testing and fingerprinting may be required, as applicable.

Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: JF&CS is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing a workplace free from harassment and discrimination. We embrace our employees' unique qualities, which fuel interest, innovation, and business success. As an EEO employer, JF&CS will engage in interactive dialogue regarding any accommodation requested based on medical or religious considerations.
