Seasonal Education Intern
Brasstown Bald, GA
Summer 2026
FIND Outdoors is offering an exciting Seasonal Education Internship at Brasstown Bald, Georgiaโ€™s highest peak. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental education, outdoor interpretation, and visitor engagement while working in a breathtaking natural setting. Interns will help connect visitors to the rich history, ecology, and conservation efforts of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. This role reports to the Georgia Educator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • Support and facilitate educational programs and interpretive activities for visitors of all ages, both indoors and outdoors.

  • Guide groups on trails and observation areas, using the surrounding mountain ecosystem as a living classroom.

  • Engage with visitors in the Brasstown Bald Visitor Center and interpret exhibits within the museum.

  • Support tabling events and assist partner organizations leading programs and events at the site.

  • Assist with the maintenance and care of educational materials, displays, and outdoor learning spaces.

  • Provide general visitor services, offering information about trails, conservation, and local wildlife.

  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to implement engaging programs.

  • Support special events and programs held at Brasstown Bald, which may include evening or weekend shifts.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:ย 

  • Comfortable working with diverse groups of all ages and delivering engaging educational experiences.ย 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create lesson plans, lead public talks, and share program updates on social media.ย 

  • Physical ability to walk up to four miles daily and lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Knowledge of ecosystems, forest ecology, and local wildlife is a plus.ย 

  • Professional and friendly interaction with the public, ensuring a positive image for FIND Outdoors.ย 

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and varying hours, especially during special events such as the Gazers of the Galaxy events, which may require evening or weekend shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

  • A combination of academic studies and practical experience in environmental education, conservation, or related fields.ย 

  • Experience in youth programming or leading groups, with a focus on education or interpretation.ย 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and work independently when required.ย 

  • A passion for environmental education, community engagement, and outdoor recreation.ย 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:ย 

  • Gain valuable experience in designing, implementing, and facilitating educational programming.ย 

  • Develop skills in public speaking, group management, and community outreach.ย ย 

  • Deepen your knowledge of forest ecology, conservation, flora and fauna.ย

INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE*:
Duration: 12 weeks- Summer 2026ย 
Work Schedule: 20-24 hours/weekly, with evening shifts required during special events.
Stipend: A stipend will be provided to support living expenses during the internship.
