Position Title: Community Education Assistant
Department: Community Education
Employment Status: Part-Time 
Reports To: Community Education Director


Menahga Public Schools is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Community Education Assistant to support our Community Education program. This position plays an important role in providing exceptional customer service while assisting with the planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations of youth and adult enrichment programs, early childhood offerings, facility scheduling, and community events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, families, instructors, and community members.
  • Assist with registration for Community Education programs using online registration software.
  • Answer phones, emails, and walk-in inquiries regarding Community Education programs.
  • Process registrations, payments, refunds, and maintain accurate participant records.
  • Prepare program rosters, attendance lists, and other administrative documents.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion through flyers, newsletters, social media, and the district website.
  • Coordinate communication with instructors and participants regarding schedules and program updates.
  • Assist with facility scheduling and room reservations for Community Education activities.
  • Help organize special events, youth programs, adult enrichment classes, and community activities.
  • Order and maintain program supplies and materials.
  • Assist with recordkeeping, reports, and data required for state or district reporting.
  • Support Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), School Readiness, and preschool programming as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and participant information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Education Director.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree or administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, office administration, or community education preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to learn district software systems including registration and scheduling platforms.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
  • Occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for Community Education programs and events.
