About the Role

Hello, Special Education Teacher Assistants! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Special Education Teacher Assistant for a school setting in Clanton, AL. In this role, you'll play a critical role in supporting students with special needs by assisting with instruction, implementing individualized plans, monitoring student behavior, and collaborating with school personnel to promote student success

What You'll Do

  • Support and reinforce IEP goals and classroom objectives through adapted activities and materials.

  • Provide individual and small-group instruction under teacher supervision.

  • Assist students with academic, behavioral, social, communication, and daily living skills.

  • Support teachers with testing, assignments, and classroom activities.

  • Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, grooming, and mobility when needed.

  • Implement behavior intervention plans and reinforce positive learning strategies.

  • Monitor and supervise students across classrooms, lunchrooms, playgrounds, field trips, and other settings.

  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and implement IEP objectives.

  • Maintain student records, daily logs, and data collection as required.

  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and confidential learning environment, including responding appropriately to behavioral or emergency situations.

What We're Looking For

  • Must hold an Associate's degree, OR

  • Have completed at least 48 semester hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, OR

  • Have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education-approved WorkKeys test.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • School-based experience preferred, not required
