Job Summary
IMI is seeking a full-time sales-driven Business Development Specialist local to the Athens, GA area.
Essential Functions
The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for actively supporting revenue growth, new customer acquisition, and market expansion across fabrication and industrial field services. This role emphasizes prospecting, pipeline development, customer engagement, and sales execution, while supporting brand positioning and marketing initiatives.
  • Generate and qualify new sales leads through prospecting, market research, cold outreach, trade shows, and industry networking.
  • Support outside sales and leadership with pipeline development, CRM management, and opportunity tracking.
  • Participate in customer meetings, job walks, and site visits to identify project opportunities.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals, bids, sales presentations, and qualification packages.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to identify target accounts and growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate with operations, estimating, and leadership to align customer needs with IMI capabilities.
  • Support trade shows, conferences, and client events as sales and relationship-building tools.
  • Maintain and update sales collateral, digital content, and customer-facing materials. Support business development initiatives through lead generation, market research, and customer outreach.
  • Strengthening IMI's brand presence across digital platforms, trade publications, and industry channels.
  • Plan and execute trade shows, conferences, client events, and community outreach initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable supporting revenue targets and growth initiatives.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time, including jobsite visits.
  • Manual dexterity needed for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs, occasionally more with assistance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to fabrication shops, jobsites, customer offices, and industry events.
