Within Acoustics, our Noise & Vibration team contributes to hardware design, validation, and troubleshooting to minimize distracting audible noises and optimize their sound quality. We are a mixed team of acoustics and vibration experts, accomplished listeners, and creative problem solvers. We work daily with multi-functional teams to find innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. We are looking for an N&V Simulation Engineer to help take Apple products to the next level. Description
An N&V Simulation Engineer on the Noise & Vibration team will analyze dynamic and acoustic behaviors from components to product. This person will also perform tests and/or work with test engineers on experimental/simulation correlation study and design solutions for related products to meet noise and vibration specifications. Root-cause identification of issues during product development along with improvement suggestions at all phases will be vital. A large part of this role involves educating multi-functional teams in your own area of expertise, to implement known standard methodologies and suggest DOEs for performance improvement. Our team needs to works closely with multi-functional teams across Apple in problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience with simulation packages, such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, Virtual-Lab, COMSOL, Maxwell.
Experience in coupled structural dynamics, acoustics simulation.
Experience in product noise & vibration root cause identification.
Some experience in non-linear systems, including material and geometry non-linearity.
Some experience in developing tools for post-processing of simulation or experimental results.
While not required, it is a plus if you have simulation experience in electro-magnetics, or statistical energy analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field, but if you’ve followed a different path to expertise in acoustics, vibration, noise control, we still want to hear from you.
Strong background in structural dynamics, with 2+ years of experience in the noise/vibration field.
A creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
A lover of learning new tools and software packages when needed.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $134,700 and $249,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
