Job Summary

Leonardo DRS is looking for a confident, highly motivated Scientist with semiconductor materials and device modeling experience to join our Research and Development team. We are looking for a strong candidate with experience in modeling direct and indirect bandgap semiconductors, dark current, carrier generation/recombination and lifetimes, carrier transport, and other key properties of photodiodes.  As a Scientist, you will be an integral part of DRS' new product and technology development efforts in infrared sensors. You will interface with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines, including material science, process engineering, device fabrication, test engineering, and system design.  You will have direct responsibility for modeling the performance of current and novel device architectures for a variety of characteristics and aid in the optimization of device designs that both meet aggressive performance targets and are manufacturable. To that end, you will work in a team with other scientists and engineers including fabrication specialists and product/process engineers to optimize device designs for yield and manufacturability. In addition, you will be the technical and/or project lead on critical development projects guiding both technical direction as well as coordination of key technical resources. This position is in our RAPID Laboratory.

Job Responsibilities

Understand advanced semiconductor device physics to comprehend the effects process, fabrication, and integration have on final device performance and communicate technical requirements to engineers and scientists to ensure success.
Construct and coordinate experimental plans to solve problems. Identify key input and output variables and provide analysis of results.
Responsible for identifying optimal device architecture which will best achieve the device design goals.
Participate and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams.
Organize, interpret, and present results to technical peers as well as to upper management or customers.
    Accept responsibility and accountability.

Qualifications

Education:  Doctorate (PhD) Degree in relevant discipline such as Materials Science, Physics, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience:  5+ years in semiconductor device physics and modeling
Strong coding skills to maintain, modify, and create device performance models for a variety of solid-state device architectures and phenomenology.
Ability to understand and analyze data related to semiconductor device performance.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
The candidate must be organized, proactive, and able to communicate to both highly technical and programmatic audiences with equal ease.
U.S citizenship is required.  Must be able to meet security standards and able to obtain a secret clearance.

Preferred Skills and Experience

10+ years of semiconductor device physics experience.
Knowledge and experience with a variety of semiconductor fabrication processes.
