Job description

Job Summary

The Procurement Program Manager is a strategic thinker responsible for owning and executing critical procurement programs and cross-functional projects that drive productivity, support large-scale business initiatives, and deliver continuous improvement across the organization. This role requires strong end-to-end ownership, disciplined execution, and the ability to lead complex projects from initiation through implementation while ensuring alignment to procurement strategy and business objectives. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with strong project management capabilities and a bias for action. This role is accountable for leading the projects it owns, driving progress across cross-functional teams, removing barriers, managing risk, and ensuring results are delivered on time and with measurable business impact. In addition to program leadership, this position plays an active role in executing procurement responsibilities within each initiative, helping to optimize supply chain performance, support sourcing decisions, and align commodity strategies with business unit priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple procurement programs and projects with ownership for execution, timeline, stakeholder alignment, and results.
  • Drive strategic procurement initiatives that deliver productivity, cost improvement, supply chain optimization, and operational performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally with commodity management, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to execute projects and achieve targeted business outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain clear project plans, milestones, status updates, risk mitigation actions, and escalation paths to ensure successful execution.
  • Proactively identify and remove roadblocks, resolve issues, and drive accountability across project teams to maintain momentum and meet commitments.
  • Lead and support gate review processes, clearly communicating sourcing requirements, supplier decisions, supply chain risks, commercial considerations, supply agreements, and project timelines.
  • Identify performance gaps to goals and develop effective countermeasures in collaboration with stakeholders to close gaps and exceed target metrics.
  • Ensure project deliverables are aligned with commodity strategies, procurement priorities, and business unit objectives.
  • Evaluate business requirements against supplier capabilities to select suppliers that best meet quality, delivery, cost, and capacity needs.
  • Apply strong commercial and procurement acumen to manage supplier relationships and enable effective sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with category managers to ensure supply agreements and sourcing strategies are in place to support new business and ongoing operational needs.
  • Standardize and deploy project management best practices and procurement standard work to improve execution, visibility, and repeatability across initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Will consider experience in lieu of a degree. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of previous work experience in a diversified industrial company in the areas of procurement, project management, and/or operations.
  • Strong Analytic experience
  • Demonstrated ability for independent thinking and multi-tasking.
  • Proven ability to plan pro-actively, anticipate issues and have excellent problem resolution records with little or no input or assistance.
  • Excellent follow-through.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills across organization.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate suppliers and cross-functional team.
  • Experience in supplier development, materials management, project management, and/or supplier quality a plus.
  • Must be a strategic thinker and have demonstrated experience driving strategies.
  • Microsoft Project Expertise or similar systems a plus.
