Job description

Job Summary: The Production Engineer is responsible for driving productivity and profitability improvements at the plant while ensuring consistent quality through root cause analysis and corrective actions. This role ensures that products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications, design requirements, and safety standards, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.


Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed): 

  1. Lead the implementation of new processes including equipment procurement, installation coordination, process capability prove-out, operator training, process documentation, and production start-up.
  2. Support the product introduction process with cost estimation, process investigation, schedule development, validation, and product testing.
  3. Maintain and modify machines to meet requirements for new vehicle generations.
  4. Review production issues on a regular basis and implement effective corrective solutions.
  5. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Managers, and other departments to implement new processes and equipment.
  6. Partner with Maintenance teams to troubleshoot machine issues and develop preventative maintenance programs.
  7. Work with Production and Quality teams to ensure production and quality targets are consistently achieved.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.
  • Tooling and fixture design experience preferred.
  • Experience with robotics and industrial controls preferred.

 Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong skills in drawing interpretation, jig & fixture design, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology; MiniTab experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, relationship building, conflict resolution, and customer orientation.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
  • High performance skills including attention to detail, planning, organization, and efficiency.
  • Personal characteristics such as motivation, flexibility, assertiveness, and commitment to continuous development.

 Working Conditions: 

  • Standard manufacturing plant environment.
  • Requires standing, walking, and working near machinery for extended periods.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally. 
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

 Remote Work: Not Eligible for Hybrid Remote Work Schedule
