Are you a seasoned food service leader with a passion for planning, coordinating, and overseeing high-quality nutrition programs? The Director of Dietetic Services position with the Department of Human Services offers the chance to guide important nutrition and food service operations at South Mountain Restoration Center. You will help shape a program that supports the health and well-being of residents through thoughtful planning and strong leadership. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while leading a dedicated team.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position serves as the administrative head of dietetic services and oversees all food service and clinical dietetic functions at South Mountain Restoration Center. The role ensures that residents receive nutrition services that meet professional standards and support their overall well-being. As a Director of Dietetic Services, you will perform the following duties:
  • Menu Planning: Review menus to ensure they meet nutritional standards and resident needs
  • Nutritional Oversight: Direct the full program of resident nutritional care, including assessments and specialized plans
  • Food Operations: Manage ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Staff Supervision: Provide leadership, scheduling, training, and performance evaluation for departmental staff
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe, sanitary environment that meets facility, state, and federal standards
  • Budget Management: Prepare and monitor the annual budget to support efficient and effective service delivery

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of experience in the supervision of food preparation activities in an institutional food service or institutional food production operation, and a bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, dietetics, food service, culinary arts, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of experience in the supervision of food preparation activities in an institutional food service or institutional food production operation.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association), or proof of eligibility for such certification.
