Scope of Responsibilities: The Formulary Strategy Manager, Trade (RPh) will lead the development and execution of trade-related formulary strategies for the organization’s proprietary formularies. This role focuses on optimizing formulary positioning to maximize rebate opportunities, ensure clinical appropriateness, and maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The position requires strong clinical knowledge, trade negotiation insight, and the ability to collaborate across clinical, financial, and operational teams.

 

Job Summary: The Formulary Strategy Manager is responsible for analyzing market trends, rebate structures, and trade agreements to inform formulary decisions. This individual will work closely with manufacturers, PBMs, and internal stakeholders to ensure formulary strategies align with organizational goals. The role involves monitoring pipeline products, competitive positioning, and trade contract performance to drive formulary optimization and financial outcomes.

  • Develop and implement trade-related formulary strategies to optimize rebate opportunities and clinical outcomes.
  • Analyze manufacturer contracts, rebate structures, and market dynamics to inform formulary positioning.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure formulary decisions meet evidence-based standards and patient safety requirements.
  • Monitor pipeline products and competitive market trends to anticipate formulary impacts.
  • Prepare and present formulary strategy recommendations to internal leadership and Formulary Strategy Committee.
  • Partner with finance and analytics teams to evaluate cost-effectiveness and rebate performance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations related to formulary management.
  • Serve as a liaison with trade partners and manufacturers to negotiate and maintain favorable formulary positioning.
  • Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Advanced training or certification in pharmacotherapy, formulary management, or evidence-based medicine preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in formulary management, trade relations, or managed care pharmacy required
  • Experience analyzing rebate structures and manufacturer contracts required
  • Prior experience in PBM, GPO, or pharmaceutical trade negotiations preferred
  • Familiarity with pipeline monitoring and formulary strategy development preferred
  • Exposure to cost-effectiveness analysis and financial modeling preferred

Compensation:

$120,000-125,000 per year.
