Job Summary
The Retail & Catering Manager - Healthcare Food Service leads retail dining operations and oversees catering services within a healthcare setting. This role drives sales performance, enhances the dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff, and ensures successful execution of events while maintaining strong financial, operational, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
  • Lead daily retail operations (cafés, coffee stations, grab-and-go, micro markets), ensuring high-quality food, service efficiency, and strong customer experience
  • Drive revenue through merchandising, promotions, menu innovation, and retail marketing strategies
  • Monitor and analyze sales, labor, food cost, and operational performance to achieve financial goals
  • Manage all catering functions from planning through execution, including meetings, physician events, and hospital functions
  • Partner with hospital leadership to coordinate menus, service expectations, and event logistics
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, billing, and budget management for retail and catering services
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members, fostering a culture of service excellence and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HACCP, ServSafe, Joint Commission), food safety, and sanitation standards

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Food Service Management, Hospitality, Business, or related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive food service management experience, preferably in healthcare or acute care
  • Experience leading retail dining operations required; catering experience preferred
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
  • Knowledge of retail merchandising, promotions, and sales growth strategies
  • Proficiency with POS systems, catering platforms, and Microsoft Office
  • ServSafe® certification required
  • Valid driver's license preferred
