Better Buzz Coffee Roasters seeks a Director of Business Development, CPG!

Better Buzz Coffee is looking for a hands-on leader to grow Better Buzz Coffee’s Consumer Package Goods (CPG) business across grocery, club and e-commerce channels. This person will own strategy, sales, marketing, supply chain and operations — expanding our packaged products beyond our cafés and into the hands of more consumers. The position will report to our Vice President of Marketing. We have robust plans for growth and this person will need to hit the ground running. This person is a deal maker, a relationship builder, a veteran of negotiation and works cross functionally.

The salary range for this position is $150,000-$170,000 annually.

Responsibilities

The Job:

  • Build and own the CPG/retail channel strategy, annual operating plan, and multi-year growth roadmap
  • Own channel revenue, profitability, budgets, pricing, trade spend, and deductions
  • Identify, prospect, and negotiate partnerships with grocery, club, and e-commerce retailers and distributors.
  • Lead the end-to-end deal process: pitch, terms, contracting, new item setup and launch planning
  • Build relationships with category buyers and lead account planning, line reviews, resets and ongoing business reviews.
  • Manage broker and distributor relationships, establish performance expectation and hold partners accountable for results
  • Partner with internal teams on innovation, packaging, pricing, promotions and supply-chain readiness.
  • Own demand forecasting and collaborate on production, inventory and replenishment planning to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Manage promotional programs from planning through execution, ensuring deliverables, timelines, retailer requirements and budgets are met.
  • Evaluate promotional effectiveness and trade-spend ROI to improve future programming.
  • Monitor retail execution, including distribution, shelf placement, in-stock levels, pricing, and displays
  • Track sell-in, sell-through, velocity, distribution, revenue, margin, forecast accuracy and inventory performance; provide regular insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Manage customer operations, including retailer portals, purchase orders, fulfillment issues, deductions and required documentation.
  • Represent Better Buzz at industry trade shows, buyer meetings and CPG conferences.
  • Build scalable processes and lead internal team members and external partners as the business grows.
Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years in CPG sales, business development, or channel management experience, preferably within food & beverage.
  • Proven track record securing and growing grocery, club, e-commerce, and distributor partnerships.
  • Experience owning revenue, profitability, pricing, trade spend and budgets.
  • Strong negotiation, deal-structuring, and relationship-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of CPG supply chain, forecasting, inventory planning and retailer operations
  • Experience managing brokers, distributors and agency partners.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business-planning capabilities
  • Strategic thinker with strong cross-functional leadership and hands-on execution skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, syndicated data, and sales-reporting tools.
  • The ability to travel to retail partners, distributors and trade shows, valid driver license.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships with grocery, club, and specialty retail buyers.
  • Coffee, beverage, or specialty food CPG experience.
