Position Responsibilities

Position Summary

This non-tenure-track clinical faculty position is a 1.0 FTE joint appointment shared equally between the Department of Health Professions in the School of Health and Medical Professions ( SHAMP ) and the University of Idaho Counseling and Mental Health Center ( CMHC ). The faculty member will hold the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, with an academic home in the Department of Health Professions and will be eligible for promotion to Clinical Associate Professor and Clinical Professor in accordance with university policy.

The position includes a 50% commitment to teaching, supervision, scholarship, and related faculty responsibilities in support of the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program and a 50% commitment to direct clinical service at CMHC . The faculty member will serve as core faculty in the PsyD program, consistent with APA Commission on Accreditation (CoA) definitions. The faculty member’s academic home will be in the Department of Clinical Medicine within the School of Health and Medical Professions. For matters related to teaching, scholarship, and faculty evaluation, the faculty member will report to the Department Head of Clinical Medicine or their designee. For clinical operations and day-to-day service responsibilities at the Counseling and Mental Health Center ( CMHC ), the faculty member will work under the direction of the CMHC Director or their designee. As a joint appointment, performance evaluations will incorporate input from both units.

Clinical faculty positions at the University of Idaho are non-tenure-track and are designed for professional disciplines with strong applied and clinical components. Responsibilities may include teaching, advising, scholarly activity, graduate committee service, and community or professional outreach.

Minimum Education/Degree Required Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or License eligible as a clinical psychologist in the State of Idaho
  • Documented training and supervised experience in evidence-based psychological interventions, including a minimum of one year (or equivalent) of applied clinical practice.
  • Documented training and experience in psychological assessment, including administration, scoring, and interpretation of commonly used standardized instruments.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring students, demonstrated through at least one year of graduate-level instruction, supervision, teaching assistantship, or comparable instructional experience in psychology or a related field.
  • Experience delivering clinically effective and ethically sound services, supported by a minimum of one year of direct service experience with college students or a comparable population.
  • Experience with writing and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through professional reports, presentations, or other formal communication products.
  • Experience collaborating across academic and clinical settings, with evidence of interdisciplinary teamwork or coordinated service delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a university counseling center, college mental health setting, or similar integrated training environment.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and brief model therapy.
  • Experience teaching doctoral or graduate students in psychology or a related health profession.
  • Experience supervising practicum students, interns, or other clinical trainees.
  • Experience mentoring dissertation or other student scholarly work.
  • Familiarity with APA accreditation standards, doctoral training, or competency-based clinical education.
  • Knowledge of FERPA , HIPAA , risk management, and documentation standards relevant to higher education clinical settings.
  • Experience conducting psychological assessments, evaluating for autism spectrum disorder, ADHD , and learning disorders.
