Job description

About commercetools

Real innovation starts with a strong foundation, and at commercetools, that comes from the perfect balance of our product and our people.

Behind every leap forward is a collective of builders, explorers, doers, makers, and problem-solvers. The kind of people who not only created composable commerce but also shaped the culture of experimentation that idea unlocked. Together they are the engine of commerce innovation today.

At commercetools, we power the next era of commerce for our customers. Whether it's AI-driven solutions that help enterprises make smarter business decisions, bridging digital and physical shopping experiences, or enabling entirely new ways for industries to connect with their customers, we help the world's most ambitious companies experiment, scale, and grow without limits.

Here the best idea wins, not the loudest voice. You will have the tools, trust, and space to not only build the future of commerce, but to build your own.

The Opportunity

As a Technical Evangelist, Product Marketing at commercetools, you will serve as the strategic lead for the company's foundational platform, ecosystem enablers (Agent Gateway and integrations) and AI Hub.This role requires a hands-on mastery of modern commerce architecture and AI concepts-including LLMs and agentic systems-to bridge the gap between deep engineering concepts and compelling market storytelling. By acting as a technical peer to Product teams, you will translate innovations like composable architecture into value-driven narratives that help global enterprises experiment and scale.

This role is hybrid, with three days a week spent in our Boston office.

Your Impact

  • Drive Platform Differentiation: Refine our platform's differentiated positioning to drive awareness, adoption, and revenue growth; lead messaging and GTM for related products (AI Hub, Agent Gateway, integrations), ensuring cohesive narratives that highlight business and technical value
  • AI Evangelism: Translate complex concepts like agentic commerce, LLMs, and API orchestration into clear value propositions for both technical and business audiences.
  • Joint Propositions: Amplify joint value propositions with key technology partners including Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering to shape launch strategies for new platform capabilities, integrations, and AI-powered features, understanding architectural trade-offs, constraints, and real-world implementation considerations
  • Audience Insights: Conduct deep research into customer, partner, and developer needs to inform product direction and competitive messaging.
  • Technical Enablement: Develop grounded content-from demos to thought leadership-that aligns GTM teams and empowers customers to adopt new innovations.

What Sets You Apart

You bring:

  • Technical Expertise: A background in Engineering or Product Management with a deep understanding of technical concepts like LLMs, agent orchestration, MCP/ACP-style protocols, model routing, tool invocation, API-driven orchestration, and more.
  • Strategic Communication: The ability to collaborate with engineers on technical constraints (security, latency, compliance) while turning that data into compelling, scalable stories.
  • GTM Leadership: Experience in high-growth, global organizations where you have turned complex product launches into repeatable processes and internal enablement wins.
  • AI Aptitude: A proactive mindset for using AI tools to optimize your own workflow and a constant drive to master emerging tech.
  • Bonus Points: Hands-on experience with commerce platforms (SAP, Shopify), developer tools, or major cloud ecosystems (GCP, AWS)

Nice to Have:

  • Hands-on experience working with or marketing AI platforms, developer tools, or LLM-based products
  • Familiarity with commerce platforms (e.g., SAP Hybris/Commerce Cloud, Shopify, etc.)
  • Exposure to AI ecosystems and partners (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, etc.)
