Kids Zone Manager
Reports To: Assistant General Manager and General Manager
Compensation
Salary Range: $35,000 - $42,000 annually
Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, performance, and business needs.
Position Summary
The Kids Zone Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Kids Zone department to provide a safe, engaging, and positive environment for children while delivering an exceptional member experience. This position leads the Kids Zone team through effective hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and development while ensuring compliance with company standards, safety procedures, and child-to-staff ratio requirements.
The Kids Zone Manager partners with club leadership to support member retention, departmental goals, and overall club success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.
Department Leadership & Team Management
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop Kids Zone team members.
  • Maintain a professional, energetic, and child-focused team environment.
  • Ensure staff provides exceptional customer service to members and their children.
  • Create staff schedules to maintain appropriate coverage and child-to-staff ratios.
  • Conduct department meetings for training, communication, and ongoing development.
  • Submit department meeting notes to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and complete required documentation.
  • Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately and approved prior to scheduling employees.
  • Coordinate employee orientations for new team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and performance coaching.
  • Document performance concerns and administer corrective action when appropriate.
  • Assist with employee termination processes when necessary.
  • Input and manage your weekly work schedule in the club's scheduling platform by established deadlines, maintaining full accountability for schedule accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to club staffing need

Member Experience & Customer Service
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting members with a welcoming, friendly, and positive attitude.
  • Build relationships with members and provide a safe, enjoyable experience for children.
  • Respond to member concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate club promotions, activities, events, and updates to members and staff.
  • Enforce Kids Zone and club policies in a professional and consistent manner.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism and outstanding customer service.

Kids Zone Operations
  • Ensure the safe and efficient daily operation of the Kids Zone.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and emergency response protocols.
  • Prepare monthly staff schedules while maintaining required child-to-staff ratios.
  • Create and submit monthly Kids Zone activity calendars.
  • Plan, organize, and promote Kids Zone activities and special events.
  • Coordinate Kids Zone programs and activities with other club departments.
  • Order department supplies as needed with management approval.
  • Monitor facility needs and communicate maintenance or housekeeping concerns promptly.
  • Follow up to ensure operational needs are addressed.
  • Perform Kids Zone Attendant duties when needed.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Attend required department, club, and leadership meetings.
  • Communicate departmental goals, updates, promotions, and upcoming events.
  • Maintain open communication with club leadership and department heads.
  • Provide constructive feedback and collaborate with management teams.
  • Follow proper chain of command and ensure team members do the same.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate department goals regularly.

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of childcare experience preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of personnel supervision experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to create a positive, safe, and engaging environment for children.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current Red Cross CPR/AED Certification required within 60 days of hire.

Preferred
  • Previous childcare management, education, recreation, hospitality, or fitness industry experience.
  • Experience with scheduling, staff supervision, and program coordination.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and move throughout the Kids Zone area for extended periods.
  • Ability to interact safely and appropriately with children.
  • Ability to lift and carry children or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in activities with children.
  • Ability to work in a busy, active childcare environment.

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring flexibility based on club operating hours and business needs. The schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
