KIDS ZONE MANAGER
Department: Kids Zone
Reports To: Assistant General Manager / General Manager
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business needs.
Position Objective
To ensure the efficient operation of a safe, clean, engaging, and welcoming Kids Zone while providing an exceptional experience for members and their children. The Kids Zone Manager is responsible for leading, training, scheduling, and developing the Kids Zone team while maintaining appropriate staffing levels, safety standards, and company service standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of childcare experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of personnel supervision or leadership experience preferred.
  • Red Cross CPR/AED Certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, coach, and motivate team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment for children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.
Member Experience & Customer Service
  • Support the company's goal to Get and Keep Members.
  • Provide the highest quality customer service to all members by greeting them with a welcoming, friendly, energetic, and positive attitude.
  • Use members' names whenever possible and create a positive experience for members and their children.
  • Respond to member concerns and comments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate club promotions, activities, events, and developments to members and team members.
  • Set the example of professional behavior and exceptional customer service for all Kids Zone staff.
  • Abide by the Service Standards established for the department.

Safety & Kids Zone Operations
  • Ensure the Kids Zone operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Know and follow club emergency response protocols and exercise sound judgment with safety as the priority.
  • Enforce Kids Zone and club policies in a professional, consistent, and appropriate manner.
  • Prepare monthly staff schedules that meet applicable child-to-staff ratio guidelines and provide appropriate coverage based on club needs.
  • Create and submit a monthly Kids Zone activities calendar.
  • Plan, organize, and promote Kids Zone activities and special events.
  • Coordinate Kids Zone activities with other club departments.
  • Perform Kids Zone Attendant duties as needed.
  • Monitor the Kids Zone environment and promptly address safety, cleanliness, or operational concerns.
  • Notify Housekeeping and Maintenance of facility-related concerns and follow up to ensure issues are addressed.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, hire, train, onboard, coach, and develop Kids Zone team members.
  • Maintain a proactive, efficient, professional, friendly, and customer-service-oriented staff.
  • Schedule staff to provide appropriate coverage within management-approved staffing guidelines.
  • Ensure team members meet the expectations and standards established by club leadership.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Document performance concerns and administer corrective action when appropriate.
  • Follow company procedures when addressing employee performance or separation from employment.
  • Hold regularly scheduled department meetings for training, communication, and information sharing.
  • Submit department meeting minutes to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
  • Schedule and conduct orientations for new employees.
  • Accurately complete required new-hire paperwork and submit it to the General Manager for approval and corporate processing before placing a new employee on the schedule.
  • Maintain current personnel records and complete required administrative documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

Department Administration
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate department goals on a regular basis.
  • Monitor department staffing and operational needs.
  • Determine and order Kids Zone supplies as needed, subject to management approval.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of department supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with department heads, management, and club leadership.
  • Use proper chain of command and ensure team members follow the same procedures.
  • Attend required club, department, and leadership meetings.
  • Inform team members of upcoming events, promotions, activities, and operational changes.
  • Participate in company training and other required meetings.
  • Input and manage your weekly work schedule in the club's scheduling platform by established deadlines, maintaining full accountability for schedule accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to club staffing need

Additional Responsibilities
  • Arrive at work prepared and on time in the proper department-specific uniform.
  • Contribute to club and organizational goals as a team player.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with the leadership team.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by management.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, and move throughout the Kids Zone for extended periods.
  • Ability to interact safely and appropriately with children.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in activities with children.
  • Ability to work in a busy, active childcare environment.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.

Work Schedule
This is an hourly position requiring flexibility based on club operating hours and business needs. The schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
