Job description

Location: Lisle High School, Lisle, IL

Position Overview

Lisle High School is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated Color Guard Sponsor to lead our Color Guard program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in color guard performance and instruction, a passion for student mentorship, and the ability to collaborate closely with the Marching Band Director to create cohesive, high-quality field performances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Choreography: Design and teach routines that complement the marching band's field show.
  • Rehearsals & Performances: Direct all color guard rehearsals (including pre-season camps, after-school practices, and sectionals). Attend and supervise students at all football games, marching band competitions, parades, and community events.
  • Student Development: Recruit new members, foster a positive and inclusive team culture, and teach proper technique and safety protocols.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the care, inventory, and ordering of flags, props, and uniforms within the allocated budget.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with students, parents, the Band Director, and school administration.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience participating in or instructing a high school, collegiate, or drum corps color guard program is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong choreography skills, knowledge of modern marching arts trends, and effective instructional techniques for various skill levels.
  • Availability: Ability to commit to a flexible schedule, including after-school hours, evenings, and occasional Saturdays during the fall competitive season.
  • Requirements: Must meet all District [Insert District Number, e.g., 202] and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) employment requirements, including a background check and safety training.
