Job Description

Special Education Teacher Assistant


Responsible to: Principal

Teacher

Director of Special Education


Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent minimum
  2. Meet Highly Qualified Status as required
  3. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  4. Competent technological skills
  5. Ability to adjust to varying tasks as assigned

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assists teachers in classroom activities with students providing instructional assistance and support services
  2. Prepares requested materials
  3. Provides individual or small group instruction to students to reinforce learning objectives as stated in IEP
  4. Supervises class in teacher's absence as needed
  5. Provides clerical support within the school as needed
  6. Attend to personal needs of Students with Disabilities when necessary
  7. Assist physically challenged children with mobility issues

General Requirements:

  1. Follows Federal and State Laws and adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board priorities
  2. Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest standards of public education and in support of the District's Vision/Mission Statements
  3. Maintains ethical standards, which include professionalism and the protection of confidential student and staff information
  4. Other responsibilities and/or duties may be required and assigned
