Inpatient Coder
Remote (KY or IN)
Remote role
Compensation: $35 - $42 per hour
Contract Length: 3 months with possible extension
Hours: 40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri between 7AM - 7PM EST
Start Date: ASAP
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to join our team on a contract basis. This fully remote position requires residency in Kentucky or Indiana and offers the opportunity to support a leading healthcare provider committed to quality and compliance. As an Inpatient Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of inpatient coding, directly impacting the measurement and reporting of physician and hospital outcomes. You will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical coding, adhering to documentation requirements and official coding guidelines, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with a competitive hourly rate and the possibility of contract extension.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Ensure accurate and complete coding of inpatient medical records in accordance with Coding Clinic and AHA Official Coding Guidelines.
  • Review clinical documentation to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for hospital and physician outcome reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical coding standards, documentation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Utilize coding software and electronic health record systems (e.g., Solventum 360, CAC, Epic) to support coding activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and data security standards when handling patient information.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 2+ years of traditional Inpatient Coding experience.
  • Experience with Solventum 360, CAC, and Epic systems.
  • Associate degree required.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification required.
  • Knowledge of Coding Clinic and AHA Official Coding Guidelines for diagnosis and procedural coding.
  • Microsoft Office, EHR, and Encoder experience preferred.
  • Experience with complex surgeries (e.g., spinal, cardiac) preferred.
  • Ability to ensure accurate and complete coding for reporting physician and hospital outcomes.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement in coding practices.
