Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Minimum Qualifications & Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent and AA Degree or 48 Semester Units or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction - (CODESP Exam). Knowledge of student behavior management strategies and techniques. Ability to provide instructional support and reinforce concepts and materials presented by the teacher.

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, students, parents and administrators. Working knowledge of methods, procedures, and equipment used in the physical education program Essential Functions: Ensures students are safe and are not engaged in activities that can cause injuries. Assists the physical education teacher with the presentation of skills, and conducts various exercises.

Monitors and assists students in the drill and practice of physical education activities as a follow-up to the presentation of skills by instructional personnel. Assists students in the proper use of a variety of physical education equipment. Monitors fields, and fixes/reports possible hazards to physical education activities.

Sets up PE stations, including cones, balls, and equipment. Assists with monitoring and implementing air quality/inherent weather schedule. Maintains a variety of physical education records.

May administer and score a variety of basic physical education tests and record the test results. Stores and maintains an appropriate inventory of physical education materials, supplies, and equipment. Assists in the management of student behavior through the use of positive strategies and techniques.
