Job Title: Director, Benefits
Location: Houston, TX 77024
Job Type: Full-Time

Salary : $144,000- $185,000
Vendor fee: $5760-$7400
Job Summary
This position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and communication of employee benefit programs. The role also oversees consulting firms, brokers, and trustees, ensuring all programs comply with IRS and ERISA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR Management, or related field required
  • Master's degree preferred

Certifications:
  • HR-related certification preferred (e.g., CBP, CEBS)
Experience / Skills / Knowledge:
  • 10+ years of experience managing benefits operations, including program implementation, administration, and compliance
  • Experience with qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, and wellness initiatives
  • Background in complex or multi-divisional organizations preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems required
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams
  • Experience with plan design, evaluation, compliance, and implementation
  • Knowledge of 401(k), 403(b), pension, non-qualified plans, life insurance, AD&D, disability, and voluntary benefits
  • Familiarity with COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and healthcare regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Strategy & Administration:
  • Design, develop, and manage competitive benefits programs
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with business objectives
  • Oversee benefits delivery, vendors, and external partners

Compliance & Governance:
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA regulations
  • Manage reporting and disclosure requirements

Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Lead and develop the Benefits team
  • Partner with HR leadership to align Total Rewards strategy
  • Act as a key escalation point for benefits-related issues

Operations & Systems:
  • Improve processes for benefits administration and delivery
  • Collaborate with HRIS/IT teams to enhance systems and tools

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
  • Manage relationships with consultants, brokers, and service providers

Analytics & Reporting:
  • Develop and track metrics to measure ROI of benefit programs

Communication & Engagement:
  • Ensure clear and effective communication of benefits programs

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support organizational goals and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
