Job description

This position is a trainee position, designed to lead to employment opportunities as a Delivery Representative. This is an entry-level position that typically would be filled by someone with minimal or no experience in the beverage distribution field but who holds or is able to promptly obtain a CDL-A Permit.
The Trainee Driver's primary duties include learning and following the Company programs and policies that will result in the safe execution of timely delivery, maximized sales and minimized returns. The Trainee Driver will observe, and then practice, the daily Pre-Trip Inspection of the vehicle to which he is assigned, and he will learn to identify what tools and equipment are needed for that day's deliveries and make sure they are available on the truck. He will maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the company; and he will possess personal automobile insurance. He will be learn and follow all DOT regulations and should pay special attention to learning the regulations that apply to driver time of service.
The Trainee Driver will learn and follow the Delivery Structure and Processes and will learn how to identify and fulfill spot sales opportunities. The Trainee Driver will learn how to read and use the product coding for product freshness and will assist others on the Delivery team in moving product as necessary. The Trainee Driver must become aware of the Company's image and understand the importance of maintaining a high level of neatness and cleanliness in each store's displays and coolers. The Trainee Driver should pay close attention during "work with" and "ride with" days between the Delivery Manager and the Route Driver in order to benefit and learn from those coaching and training opportunities in the field.
SAFETY
Due to the physical requirements, as well as the need to maintain a high level of continual alertness in the work environment, this is a safety-sensitive position. Attend safety training meetings, participate in safety training exercises/drills. Complete all assigned safety training as required, which may include incident/accident corrective training, equipment recertification, and safety knowledge assessments.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, starting at 5 a.m. and ending when all deliveries are completed.
This is a very physically demanding position. Candidates must be able to lift up to 60 lbs, repetitively throughout the day.This position requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. A Class-A CDL Permit is strongly preferred. If you do not currently hold a Class-A CDL Permit, you must be willing and able to obtain one within a reasonable time frame.
