News Producer:

ABC57 and ABC57 News are seeking a News Producer who is a dedicated journalist committed to informing the public with accuracy, clarity, and urgency. 


About the Role

Proactively pitch story ideas and identify strong leads to the newsroom

Responsible for making on the spot technical and editorial decisions

Communicate story angles, developments, and expectations clearly with MMJs and anchors 

Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment 


What You'll Do 

Write original, factually accurate scripts for broadcast using original reporting, news releases, wire copy, and other credible sources

Craft engaging and well-structured newscasts utilizing live shots, graphics, and other production tools

Collaborate closely with fellow producers, the desk, field crew, directors, and management to execute the vision for every newscast

Independently produce a 30-minute or more newscast 

Develop targeted customer-focused marketing solutions using multiple media products

Adhere to management's guidance on editorial decisions 

Write compelling teases designed to maintain viewer engagement 

Perform additional duties as assigned 


What You'll Need 

Bring strong computer literacy skills

Experience with newsroom rundown software preferred (i.e. iNews or ENPS)

Effective decision-making skills with the ability to act quickly and make strong judgement calls

Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and command of the English language

Exceptional communication skills, team player, and a collaborative mindset

Flexibility to work late nights, early mornings and occasional weekends
