Flint Hills Resources is seeking a Software Engineering Co-Op in the Information Technology department in Wichita, KS.

We make a large supply of fuel for gas stations and airports in addition to transporting crude oil, natural gas liquids and refined products through 4,000+ miles of pipeline - delivering energy to farmers, manufacturers, and families. This co-op role is based in-office in Wichita, KS. You can anticipate working 15-25 hours per week (primary hours between 7:00AM-5:00PM) with flexibility to work around your school schedule.

We are searching for a talented Software Engineer ing Co-Op to be a pivotal member of our team. As a Software Engineer ing Co-Op , you will have the opportunity to drive technological advancements and create software solutions that revolutionize our business operations. What You Will Do
  • Design, architect and build/ modify code
  • Build automated unit tests
  • Integrate applications and processes together to streamline our businesses
  • Apply critical thinking to solve problems across complex and distributed systems
  • Work with AWS & APis to deliver creative, sustainable solutions
  • Provide technical alternatives to address business needs
  • Collaborate as part of a team across multiple IT disciplines

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to one of the following areas: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related technical field
  • Initiative, natural curiosity, strong communication skills, and an aptitude for fast-paced learning
  • Currently residing in Wichita, KS or the surrounding area
  • Eligible for full-time employment by July 2028
  • Demonstrated interest in or experimentation with AI or generative tools (coursework, class projects, personal projects, hackathons, or hands-on use of AI assistants/ LLM's )
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Prior software engineering, develop ment or IT experience
  • Entry-level experience , training or projects in one or more of the following languages and frameworks: Typescript, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++, React.js, Node.js or other common languages and frameworks
