Job description

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team, Under the direct supervision of a Physician or Physician Assistant, the Certified Medical Assistant will perform medical procedures and tests, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients, and assist with basic examinations.
Your role in action:
  • Perform medical procedures and tests under the direct supervision of a Physician or Physician Assistant.
  • Assist Physician with exams and tests
  • Measure and record vital signs, including:
    • Blood pressure
    • Pulse
    • Temperature
    • Weight
    • Height
  • Interview patients
  • Instruct patients on medication administration, diet, exercise, and other Physician directed orders.
  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure that all related reports, information, and lab results are organized and filed with patient records.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and instruments.
  • Prepare examination rooms between patients.
  • Sterilize medical instruments after each patient
  • Answer calls from patients, physicians, and pharmacies and take appropriate action.
  • Call-in prescriptions and prescription refills daily.
  • Maintain accurate logs of office supplies and equipment

What qualifications you will need:
Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Education diploma.

Experience:
  • 1 year experience preferred.

Other Key Qualifications:
  • Certifications as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the healthcare field, the medical specialty of the office or center in which they work, and medical terminology.
